Company Overview: Begg Shoes, a renowned independent retail business that prides itself on delivering exceptional customer service in a modern retail environment, is also a family-run enterprise. With a network of 9 stores in Scotland, we have established ourselves as a leading independent footwear retailer, with a loyal customer base both locally and shopping online.

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Regional Manager to lead and manage our diverse store operations, with a focus on training and development of our teams for future success.

Position Overview: As Regional Manager at Begg Shoes, you will play a pivotal role in our organisational structure. You will work closely day to day with the Company Directors and store managers, and be entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the management of our retail network.

Remuneration: Competitive salary and bonus rewards, based on candidate experience.

Location: We expect a candidate to primarily operate from our Inverurie store, or our Inverness stores where our headquarters are located. Travel will be an essential element of this role.*

Key Responsibilities: Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at optimising store performance, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving business success:

  • Retail Stores Management:
      • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple stores, ensuring smooth functioning and adherence to company standards.
      • Elevate sales strategies to maximise profitability across all stores.
      • Foster a stimulating and supportive environment for store teams to thrive in.
  • Customer Service Excellence:
      • Implement high standards of customer service to deliver an exceptional shopping experience.
      • Work towards maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction levels, including through our Loyalty Rewards scheme.
  • Team Performance:
      • Lead, motivate, and guide store teams to achieve their full potential.
      • Drive team performance through effective coaching, feedback, and performance assessments.
      • Oversee performance management interventions where required.
  • Recruitment
      • Oversee a highly effective recruitment process, which helps the business secure the best available talent for our stores 
      • Coach store managers towards self sufficiency in recruitment
  • Training and Development:
      • Champion staff training and development initiatives to ensure a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
      • Innovate and continuously develop content offered within the Begg Shoes Online Training portal, for the enhancement of product knowledge and customer service skills.
  • HSE
      • Oversee a high standard of Health and Safety awareness and strict aderence to policies within our stores, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stock Management and Operational Control:
      • Implement efficient stock management practices to optimise inventory levels and minimise discrepancies.
      • Ensure adherence to modern management systems for streamlined operations.
  • Product Offering Enhancement:
    • Contribute to the evolution of the product range by influencing changes that align with customer preferences and market trends.

 

Qualifications and Requirements: To excel in this role, the successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A background in retail, leisure or hospitality management within a customer service oriented environment.
  • Proven experience in a managerial capacity, showcasing effective leadership, HR and performance management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities, both digital and verbal.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a genuine enthusiasm for the retail industry and a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Training and Support: The Regional Manager will receive extensive training and guidance at Begg Shoes. With close mentorship from our Company Directors, you’ll gain insights into our business strategies and operations, enhancing your ability to lead our diverse store operations effectively.

Travel: This role will require travel by road, rail and by air. Occasional overnight trips will ne necessary where single day travel is not practical (e.g. Orkney and Shetland Isles). This will require a Full UK driving licence and a confident approach to driving routes between our stores.

Experience Building Period: To develop the necessary skills for overseeing multiple stores, the successful candidate will spend time working in one or more of our existing stores in a managerial capacity. This period will involve learning about shoe sales, addressing customer concerns, and mastering our EPOS stock systems.

Work Schedule: This full-time position follows a standard 5-day workweek aligned with the operations of the stores which is typically between Monday and Saturday, 8:30am and 5:30pm.
