The History of Regarde de Ciel

1995 – When Filip Rasschaert moved to Spain to be closer to his family after the sudden loss of his father a long lasting passion in the leather industry started. He started working at the largest tannery group in Spain called Leatherval as his first job and later moved on to working with GCV.

2001 – Filip started a joint venture after receiving a business proposal from a Chinese-Taiwanese group. This was to set up a factory and development center specifically targeted for the world market. Here Filip learnt the finest details in leather through the collaboration with French, German, Italian and Spanish shoemakers.

2005 – This is the year that Filip Rasschaert decided to follow his own path and set up his own company and so Uniglobal Asia was born. A company for servicing and developing business for large shoe brands.

2007 – After several petitions from clients and having gained the knowledge Filip creates his own collection of womens shoes. He starts off by selling to medium and large size retailers. A sample room was set up with over 45 workers as well as a financial and invoicing hub which today is known as Sinopro Trading.

2011 – This is birth year of the first Regarde le Ciel where Filip opened the doors for the first time. The brand was created at aiming to satisfy a well aware consumer featuring products with unique characteristics. This collection of footwear represented quality, lightweight, flexibility and most importantly hand crafted natural finishes. The Regarde le Ciel boots have become iconic especially the Stefany 03 and Marisi 22 model. These shoes give you a comforting feeling as the foot slides into the cozy warmth of the short hair fleece as the shoe closes pleasantly around the foot.  The robust stitching bears witness to the sturdy build of this footwear. The glove’s finish and grip have the familiar sensual feel of leather.

2012 – This year saw the brand expand with a sales office set up in Germany and incorporates a stronger European sales team to cover the German, French, Benelux and UK Market.

2013 – Regarde le Ciel continues to expand globally by opening in new marketings with the winter season entering in the US market.

2015 – After several years Regarde le Ciel felt it was time to introduce a new logo which was well received.

2016 – With the opening of a new showroom in Barcelona this set a milestone for Regarde le Ciel. It also saw the brand entering into the Australian, Swiss, UK, Spanish, Italian and Austrian markets. They also launched their first eCommerce site as well as the setup of the customer service and marketing departments. The brand stays true to itself as it continues to increase its global presence.
